Third Coast Interiors is a Chicago-based full-service Interior Architecture and Design Studio led by Guinevere Johnson. Our work centers around site-specific details, architectural interventions and material exploration. We work with each client to create lasting environments unique to their vision and lifestyle, ensuring that every final result is as functional as it is beautiful. Our services encompass full-service interior architecture and design, interior renovations, furnishings and decor projects. We currently work within the Chicagoland area, Mexico City and throughout the United States and Mexico on commercial and residential projects of all scopes of all sizes.

meet the team

Guinevere Johnson

principal

Guinevere [that’s pronounced /gwen•a•veer/, if you’re wondering] has a decade of Interior Architecture + Design experience, having worked in both the academic and commercial fields. She obtained her Master of Science in Interior Design from Brooklyn's Pratt Institute, one of the world's leading design schools. She is known for her sophisticated style that brings depth and character to all her designs.

Before returning to her Chicago roots and founding Third Coast Interiors, Guinevere lived in New York City, Vermont, and Mexico City & Monterrey, Mexico. During this time, she taught Interior Architecture and Design at the Graduate and Undergraduate levels at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art, Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City), Universidad Anáhuac Norte (Mexico City) and Universidad de Monterrey (Monterrey, México). Her varied background and travels allow Guinevere to bring a well-cultured eye to her work and an appreciation for capturing her client’s unique backgrounds and incorporating them into each design.

She currently lives in Chicago's Gold Coast.

Diana Ortiz

Senior Designer

MEET DIANA ↓

Diana is a senior designer at Third Coast Interiors, and brings fifteen years of experience in high-end design throughout the north shore in Chicago. She is creative in her approach to her work and is very detail oriented. Diana loves organizing and project management.

She earned her BFA in Interior Design from the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago is passionate about designing spaces to reflect each client’s personality and loves finalizing the small details of the design process. When she’s not working, Diana enjoys spending time in Florida, traveling and photography.

Samantha Shappell

Design Assistant

MEET SAMANTHA ↓

Samantha received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, studying Industrial Design. She keeps all of the details running smoothly, from tracking products to scheduling placements. Samantha is inspired by historical art movements, upcoming trends, and the ideas that come from collaborating with a team.

Samantha enjoys playing musical instruments and spending time with her pets in her free time. Animal lover, has dogs and cats, grown up through Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin. (understands industrial design)

Daniel Ceron Muzquiz

Architect, Mexico Liaison

MEET DANIEL ↓

Daniel Ceron Muzquiz is an architect with a BArch from Ibero, one of Mexico's best architecture schools. He also has a MA from the prestigious and world-renowned UNAM, where he studied project management with an emphasis on development. Daniel lives in Mexico City and has ten years of experience creating beautiful designs and spaces as an architect. Daniel studied under Guinevere while at Ibero.

MEET MONTY ↓

Monty is a dog who knows great design when he sees it. He has a well-trained eye and knows his opinions, though for the right treat, he can be bribed. Monty has been with Third Coast Interiors for several years and offers not only happiness to everyone around him, but a distinguished opinion, and lots of love to staff and clients alike.
